5 Reasons to Watch Evolve 60 & 61

Evolve 60 Evolve 61

Evolve returns to live iPPV on Friday, May 6 out of Joppa, Maryland and Saturday, May 7 out Queens, NY. With a lot of big matches, here are 5 reasons to watch these shows.

1) Global Cruiserweight Series Qualifiers

At Evolve 61, we get not one but two WWE Global Cruiserweight Series Qualifying matches. Drew Gulak vs. Tracy Williams and TJP vs Fred Yehi. Both these matches should be incredible and it is in incredible opportunity for all four guys to be involved.  The qualifiers in Progress & Rev Pro have seen lots of new eyes on both companies after highlights of those matches got over 100,000 views each on WWE’s YouTube channel, so Evolve gets more exposure here, as well as the four guys involved. All 4 men bring something unique to the table and WWE would be lucky to have any of the 4 in the series. With WWE watching, all four will be out to impress.

2) Grudge Matches

Johnny Gargano & Ethan Page look for revenge on Drew Galloway in two grudge matches.  Galloway though turned on Gargano in the most epic of ways during Mania weekend and this feud was born. It was an incredible promo from Galloway.  This match is going to be great. They’ve had good matches before, but now there is an added intensity to it. Then we have Galloway vs. Page. Page is still on his road to redemption and saved Gargano from Galloway to try and prove that he has Gargano’s back. I cannot wait to see what Page pulls off here. He has quietly been having great match after great match and this should be no different. Galloway is the perfect guy to bring out the best in Page.

3) The Rivalry Continues at Evolve 60

Chris Hero & Zack Sabre Jr are set to meet again.  First, if you haven’t seen the match these two guys had at Mercury Rising over Mania weekend then I suggest you watch that right now. Okay? Sabre looked great in defeat in what was one of the best matches of a stacked Wrestlemania weekend. So now here we are, Hero wants to prove that he is the best in the world and Sabre does too. If they are somehow able to up the ante from their last match then this will be the match of the weekend. I’m excited to see what they pull of here because both these men are great and have incredible chemistry together.

4) Tag Titles: Catch Point vs Catch Point

At Evolve 60, we get Catch Point vs Catch Point. If you don’t know about Catch Point yet this may be a good place to start. Catch Point is a group of 5 competitive individuals on Evolves roster; Drew Gulak, Tracy Williams, Matthew Riddle, TJ Perkins and Fred Yehi. These 5 are competitive and have no problem wrestling each other, case in point, the absolute masterpiece that Riddle and Williams put on over the last Evolve weekend. Here we have Gulak and Williams (the champions) taking on TJP & Yehi. This is not only a tag title match, but a preview of the Cruiserweight qualifiers at Evolve 61. This is going to be competitive, technically sound and probably great.

5) Marty Scurll.

Scurll is a superstar. Whether you have seen him or not, I can tell you that he is a superstar. He can talk, he can wrestle and in the ring, he’s pretty close to perfection.  He impressed in his Evolve debut over Wrestlemania weekend and scored a major win over Evolve champion Timothy Thatcher, a guy who has rarely been beaten in Evolve. This Evolve weekend he faces Zack Sabre, Jr and Johnny Gargano. If you never seen ZSJ vs Scurll then you’re in for a treat. Every time they meet is better than the last. They have a chemistry that can’t be replicated and put on a style of match rarely seen in the US. The fact that they have fought side by side and against each other many times I think helps them because you can tell they’re always trying to outdo the other. His match with Gargano should also be something special. Gargano is the type that can have a great match with just about anyone and with Scurll I’m sure that will just be multiplied.  Scurll is a unique and fun talent and anyone with a chance to see him live should take it.

Both shows will be available at WWNLive.com.

I’m small, talkative and either thinking about wrestling or music. I make a lot of jokes so take what I say with a grain of salt. Ring of Honor & Evolve are my faves. I live at Florida wrestling shows on the weekends.
