2016 End of the Year Awards: Promotion of the Year

Here are our picks for the our favorite promotions of the year:

AAW has been home to not only some of my favorite wrestlers of the year but some of my favorite matches. They have some of the best storylines in the U.S. and have had some of the most concise shows anywhere this year. There’s a reason they’re considered the best in Midwest. 2017 sees them taking huge strides which should be incredible.

PROGRESS Wrestling:

PROGRESS continues to perfect the mix of storytelling and great wrestling, in my opinion no one in Europe does it better and the only promotion in the world that’s as good or better at it is Dragon Gate. PROGRESS Wrestling continues to be what wrestling is supposed to be and also continues to get bigger and bigger in the process, their Brixton Academy show is a major example of that. More greatness to come from them in 2017 and information one couldn’t be more excited.

NJPW started the year by taking a major hit, losing three of their top stars. Against all the odds, NJPW ended up having an even better year than they had in 2016. The product felt fresh. New stars were created up and down the card and guys like Tetsuya Naito and Kenny Omega were given the opportunity to become mega stars.  What could have been a disastrous year for NJPW, turned out to be a great one that will ensure that 2017 will be even better. Gedo deserves huge credit for making it all happen.

I’m small, talkative and either thinking about wrestling or music. I make a lot of jokes so take what I say with a grain of salt. Ring of Honor & Evolve are my faves. I live at Florida wrestling shows on the weekends.
